HTML Tutorial | List


In HTML, List is of two types.

Ordered list

  1. First item
  2. Second item
  3. Third item

Unordered list

  • First item
  • Second item
  • Third item

Unordered List

An unordered list starts with the <ul> tag.

Each list item starts with the <li> tag.

Example:
   <ul>
   <li>First item</li>
   <li>Second item</li>
   <li>Third item</li>
   </ul>
	   

Ordered List

An ordered list starts with the <ol> tag.

Each list item starts with the <li> tag.

Example:
   <ol>
   <li>First item</li>
   <li>Second item</li>
   <li>Third item</li>
   </ol>
	   

Type attribute

Type attribute are used to enhance the property of table.

Type value Description
type="1" The list items will be numbered with numbers (default)
type="A" The list items will be numbered with uppercase letters
type="a" The list items will be numbered with lowercase letters
type="I" The list items will be numbered with uppercase roman numbers
type="i" The list items will be numbered with lowercase roman numbers

Example:
   <ol type="A">
   <li>First item</li>
   <li>Second item</li>
   <li>Third item</li>
   </ol>
	   

Nested List

We can put list inside list.

Example:
   <ul>
   <li>First item</li>
   <li>Second item</li>
   <ul>
   <li>Second sub 1 item</li>
   <li>Second sub 2 item</li>
   </ul>
   <li>Third item</li>
   </ul>
